Colorectal cancer, Study No 4

Screening colonoscopy program for early detection in colorectal cancer in the Polish population.

KCR also cooperates with a network of onco-genetics clinics that have access to one of the largest cancer biobanks in the world (the largest worldwide registry of individuals diagnosed, under surveillance for and/or carrying inherited increased risk of cancer) that has biological samples and clinical data (mainly peripheral blood and fixed or fresh tumor tissue) from more than 185 000 cancer patients, relatives and controls.

Registry includes ~4200 of BRCA1 gene mutation carriers (high risk of breast/ovarian cancer) and above 20 000 of carriers of other mutations / polymorphisms (BRCA2, CHEK2, CDKN2A, NOD2, NBS1, MSH2, MLH1, MSH6, XPD, FGFR, TNR, M3K) associated with increased risk of cancers of breast, colon, prostate, lung, malignant melanoma etc.
